G-Eazy has recently addressed the widespread perception that he has "fallen off," attributing his temporary retreat from the limelight to personal and professional reasons.

In a candid interview on Wild Ride with Steve-O released on Thursday (May 30), the rapper disclosed that his hiatus was a deliberate move to prioritize his mental health and reassess his career trajectory, particularly after experiencing burnout and the loss of his mother in 2021.

"So I was burning out, really," he shared during the conversation. "Like, when you go that hard for that long? And we had a great run. It was three albums in a row that went platinum, you know?"

Acknowledging the overwhelming nature of his success and the impact of his mother's passing, G-Eazy emphasized the necessity of stepping back to recalibrate. "It’s like overwhelming, overstimulated. And then, my mom passing and all that? I needed to reset from the business side of it. I changed management, I moved to New York … I had to grieve."

This declaration comes as no surprise, as G-Eazy has previously spoken about his determination to overcome personal challenges and reclaim his place in the industry. In a discussion last year, he articulated his intentions with clarity: "My intentions are clear. I want to reclaim the spot that was mine and I’m coming for it with aggressive, direct intention, but you have to balance that with humility and self-awareness as well."

The loss of his mother, Suzanne Olmsted, was a profound moment for the artist, evident in the vulnerable eulogy he penned on Instagram. "The shock still won’t let me accept the feeling that I’ll never get to hug you in person again," he wrote. "My queen, my hero, my everything…my mom."

Despite the challenges he has faced, G-Eazy remains committed to his craft and is poised to make a comeback with his latest projects. His resilience and candor serve as a testament to his enduring presence in the rap industry .
