Kenya Power, the country's main electricity distributor, has warned its customers of planned power outages in eight counties across four regions on Thursday, January 25, 2024.

The power company said the interruptions are necessary to facilitate maintenance and upgrade of its network infrastructure, as well as to connect new customers to the grid.

The affected counties are Nairobi, Machakos, Kajiado, Murang'a, Trans Nzoia, Homa Bay, Mombasa and Kilifi. The outages will occur at different times of the day, ranging from one hour to six hours, depending on the location.

Kenya Power advised its customers to check the specific areas and timings of the outages on its website, social media platforms, and local media outlets. It also urged them to treat all electrical installations as live and dangerous, and to report any faults or emergencies to its contact center.

The power company apologized for any inconvenience caused by the outages and assured its customers of its commitment to provide reliable and quality power supply.
